The Scouting Report

After coming up just two wins shy of the Stanley Cup last season, the Devils have surged into the shortened 2012–13 campaign ready for another shot at the franchise's fourth title. With a 4–1–3 record through the first eight games, the team stands in a solid fifth place within the Eastern Conference, just one point back from the Atlantic Division's top spot. The stalwart defense has played a large role in this season’s early success, with the Devils allowing just more than two pucks disguised as net repairmen to sneak past the goalie per game.
