In a Nutshell

First-ever lacrosse matches at Citi Field feature four revered programs and the country’s top collegiate player

The Fine Print

It’s fun to see star athletes play in college before they sign lucrative contracts to go pro or become stuck inside statues of themselves near the campus stadium. Witness the making of a legacy with this GrouponLive deal to see the Metropolitan Lacrosse Classic, presented by Konica Minolta and Newsday, at Citi Field on Sunday, March 17. The Holy Cross vs. Navy match starts at noon, followed by Michigan vs. Colgate at 3 p.m. Choose between the following options:

  • $9 for one ticket for Excelsior End Line seating (a $26 value, including all fees)
  • $24 for one ticket for Field Sideline VIP seating (a $47 value, including all fees)

For the first time ever, lacrosse invades Citi Field during the inaugural Metropolitan Lacrosse Classic on March 17. The doubleheader begins with a matchup between a pair of Patriot League rivals, including the US Naval Academy, a program that has produced 429 All-Americans and one Captain America. Junior attackman Tucker Hull leads Navy against the College of the Holy Cross and its star senior James Kennedy.

In the second half of the doubleheader, Colgate University stomps onto the turf behind attackman Peter Baum. Recently picked first overall in the Major League Lacrosse draft, Baum won the 2012 Tewaaraton Award for top male player in collegiate lacrosse while setting the Patriot League record for goals. He’ll have to fight through the defense and autograph requests of a tough Wolverine team, as the University of Michigan sets out on its second season of varsity lacrosse after winning three straight National Club team titles from 2008–10.

The Groupon Guide to: Fighting Crime

While the police largely discourage comic book-inspired vigilantism, there are still a number of less flamboyant ways to combat crime in your community:

  • If you see something, say something—for instance, if you see a weird bug, make sure to tell everyone you meet that day about it.

  • Install intense floodlights in your bedroom so that no burglars can hide in the shadows and watch you sleep.

  • Teach children to trust the police by visiting schools dressed as something children already trust: a giant, talking dog wearing a policeman’s hat, with huge, unblinking plastic eyes.

  • Join a neighborhood watch, wherein adjacent neighborhoods volunteer to take turns staying up all night and watching each other to make sure no crimes happen.

  • When all else fails, join up with the lawless bands of lunatics who run your streets—you might be surprised how quickly you discard all morality in exchange for a skewer of boar meat roasted over a flaming garbage can.

Can you fight crime in your neighborhood by volunteering to never sleep again? Find out with today's Groupon Guide.
