The OakHeart Country Music Festival gives cow folk an excuse to break out their Stetsons and shine up their boots for a day of music, dancing, and fun. Go Country's Shawn Parr emcees the event, welcoming a lineup of six luminaries to the stage, headlined by Tracy Lawrence. The composer of eight No. 1 singles, Lawrence's interstellar trajectory was nearly derailed in 1991 when three armed men held up him and a friend outside a hotel room, leaving him with four bullet wounds. Lawrence quickly convalesced, but the mixture of absurdity, danger, and tragedy embodied in that night lingered in his music. Interspersing joy with melancholy, it makes strong use of lyrical precision. Lines such as "It takes a mama 20 years to make a boy a man / and another woman 20 seconds to have him crawlin' again" from his self-titled 2001 album have won praise from AllMusic.com, which lauded his ability to use "two sentences to describe what musicians fill four-minutes worth of song to express." Youthful up-and-comer Jason Michael Carroll also takes the stage, melting hearts with his chiseled good looks, honeyed voice, and semicontrollable ability to breath fire.

During sets, festivalgoers can show off their dance moves while novice hoofers avail themselves of two-step and line-dancing lessons.
