The Scouting Report
When the Beef host the Bloomington Edge on May 24, it will be the sequel to an early-season thriller. On March 29, the Beef traveled to Bloomington and bested the Edge 70-69 courtesy of a last-minute touchdown pass from Chris Coffin to Jared Elmore—the knockout blow to end a thrilling fourth quarter which featured seven lead changes. The second showdown is the Beef's last home game of the regular season and the last chance for fans to ask the team's Prime Dancers about their favorite cut of steak.
Though the Omaha Beef traces its roots back to 1999, the story of its current incarnation began in 2013, when the club played its first season in the ten-team Champions Professional Indoor Football League. The league gives Omaha an opportunity to spark new rivalries with regional foes such as Sioux City, Kansas City, and Lincoln, while also keeping alive traditional grudge matches with Wichita and Bloomington. In between bouts of high-octane action on the field, spirits are kept high by entertainment from the Prime Dancers and mascot Sir Loin, who draws his name from the legendary knight with the largest waist in King Arthur's Court.
