During RIOULT—a series of four dance works—French choreographer and a former principal dancer at the Martha Graham Dance Company, Pascal Rioult, pays homage to three legendary composers. In Celestial Tides, Bach's Brandenburg Concerto no. 6 directs dancers draped in steel-colored garments as they glide and drift as if gravity doesn’t exist. A second Bach piece, a sonata for violin and harpsichord, plays as projections of a city flicker and twist behind dramatic onstage choreography. Les Noces explores the ritual of wedding ceremonies with provocative movements set to the tune of Stravinsky's composition by the same name, before Rioult mirrors composer Maurice Ravel’s energetic and repetitive Bolero with calculated steps. This piece, in particular, resonates personally for Rioult, who told the Sun-Sentinel, "This is my bliss, this is my truth and my instinct…Instinct dictates your duty as an artist."

Ken Kesey wrote the book, Jack Nicholson starred as its hero in the Academy-Award-winning film, and in November, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest takes over a Brooklyn stage in a production by the critically acclaimed Godlight Theatre Company. In 2010, the company won a Drama Desk Award for its "consistent originality and excellence in dramatizing modern literature." With past productions of 20th-century tomes such as Slaughterhouse-Five and A Clockwork Orange, director Joe Tantalo and his company bring eminent experience to Dale Wasserman's adaptation of this classic American tale set in a mental ward. A comedic parable on the clashing virtues of freedom and conformity, the story follows the power struggle that ensues once the free spirit of Randle Patrick McMurphy invades Nurse Ratched's seemingly obedient ward. As Randle organizes a gambling operation and disseminates wine, women, and rebellion among his fellow inmates, his actions slowly begins to loosen the locked-in reins of the all-powerful nurse. But how much lock loosening will she allow?
