The Scouting Report

With a 20–16–3 record through 39 games this season, the Peninsula Panthers continue to claw for a postseason berth and a chance to win their third Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League championship in four years. During a battle against the Kerry Park Islanders, hockey fans can enjoy the smooth-skating dekes and flashy stickwork of precocious forward Josh Adkins, whose knack for sharing the puck—he has collected 30 assists in 39 games—may lead him to a career in the next level. Head coach Brian Passmore leads the team of up-and-coming athletes with tactical know-how culled from a seven-year professional career and a dream in which he encountered a wise-talking zamboni .

Peninsula Panthers

Competitors in the nine-team Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League, the Peninsula Panthers foster excellence in fledgling hockey players as they compete against some of Canada's finest young talent. With three Brent Patterson Memorial Trophies in their arsenal—including back-to-back championships in 2010 and 2011—the Panthers have emerged as one of the league's premiere programs and a hotbed for future stars to move on to the next level. A handful of NHL players have matriculated through the Panthers system, including current Dallas Stars fixtures Jamie and Jordie Benn.
