Choose from the following concerts:

Animus (June 19): The stage abounds with odd-looking drums and stringed instruments during Animus concerts, which generate a mélange of modern and traditional musical styles. The son of a Greek musician and a belly dancer, bandleader Bill Koutsouros takes up many instruments over the course of the evening as his ensemble mixes such diverse genres as Middle Eastern, Indian, African, and rock.

Barakka (June 26): This group of Turkish folk-rockers performs original melodies and energetic takes on popular folk songs from the Anatolian peninsula. Flying V guitars and traditional instruments are equally at home in the hands of the six members, whose latest single, "Agit," has recently become a hit on Turkish radio.

Magdaliz and Her Trio Crisol (July 3): Puerto Rican singer Magdaliz Roura leads Crisol—Spanish for "melting pot"—through boleros, Mexican mariachi songs, and Colombian cumbias, to name just a few Latin American genres in the group's repertoire.

Zydeco-A-Go-Go (July 10): This sextet goes deep into the music of Louisiana, from Cajun two-step to New Orleans jazz, blues, and, of course, zydeco. Bandleader and multilingual singer Pete Gumbo has also pounded the keys with acclaimed musicians from Jamaica to Nigeria, further enriching the group's stew of styles.

Penn Museum

The Penn Museum hosts its fourth annual P.M. @ Penn Museum Summer Nights concert series, presented in the Museum's verdant outdoor Stoner Courtyard on the University of Pennsylvania’s idyllic campus. Just inside, guests can immerse themselves in the Museum's newest exhibition, "Black Bodies in Propaganda: The Art of the War Poster," before moving on to explore a world of art and artifacts, many obtained from archaeological and anthropological expeditions conducted by the Museum since its founding in 1887. Wandering its galleries, guests explore rare objects from the near and distant past, including those found in the Egypt (Sphinx) Gallery, home to a monumental granite sphinx circa 1200 BCE. Elsewhere, visitors marvel at intricate bronze and ivory carvings from West Africa's Kingdom of Benin, created between the 17th and 20th centuries, and intricately carved Maya stone stelae from pre-Columbian Mesoamerica. Changing exhibitions showcase travelling collections or draw from the Museum's vast collection of objects from every inhabited corner of the globe.
