In a Nutshell

The San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners kick off spring-training play at Peoria Sports Complex

The Fine Print

Statistics help fans analyze a baseball player's career, from quantifying a slugger's batting average to measuring a right fielder's apathy. See numbers come to life with this GrouponLive deal to see the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners square off in a spring-training contest at Peoria Sports Complex.

Choose Between Two Options

On Friday, February 22, at 1:05 p.m., the Padres and the Mariners will open the 2013 Cactus League spring training season with their 20th-annual charity game. Proceeds from the yearly matchup benefit West Valley charities supported by the non-profit Peoria Diamond Club, which partners with the city of Peoria and their MLB guests to bring spring training baseball to the Peoria Sports Complex.

The Scouting Report

The spring training home of both the San Diego Padres and the Seattle Mariners, the Peoria Sports Complex has been helping players develop their skills and shake off off-season rust since 1994. The complex consists of 145 acres that host 12 full-size practice fields, eight covered major-league hitting tunnels, and a full main stadium seating more than 11,000 people in traditional capacity. Fans catch the action from outfield or upper-box seating, watching their big-league heroes field flies and swing for the fences during their annual Cactus League face-offs.

The Groupon Guide to: Novelty Glasses

While traditional glasses are a handsomeness-destroying nuisance worn out of necessity rather than choice, many eccentric types have put a twist on the formula to come up with a popular variety of "novelty" spectacles. Which one is right for you?

Shutter Shades: You can see out, but no one else can see in, thus preserving for your future wife the honor of looking into your eyes for the first time.

Groucho Glasses: Styled after a popular comedian born in 1890, the world's last remaining pair of Groucho glasses will be recovered in 2029 by a boy rooting around in his grandfather's attic. The boy will briefly try them on, turning to his cousin to say "Hey, Jason, look—I'm a mustache man."

Dangling Slinky Eyeballs: These are gross, man—get 'em outta here!

Oversized Sunglasses: If regular sunglasses send the message "I'm here to party," then these oversized versions loudly declare "I am the party." If you're not wearing a pair of these right now, go back to bed and try life again tomorrow.

Can a pair of novelty glasses transform your entire life? Find out here.
