In a Nutshell

Sunday show with more than 30 years of history brings together lineups of local up-and-comers

The Fine Print

Many standup comedians offer hilarious observations about everyday things, such as how men and women are different or why we should live in constant fear of the all-powerful sun's unchecked control over our feeble planet. Laugh away your worries with this GrouponLive deal to Punch Line Comedy Club. For $10, you get two tickets to an SF Comedy Showcase (up to a $34.30 value, including fees). Showcases are held Sundays at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m. There is a two-drink minimum for every show. View the full schedule of upcoming shows here.

A Punch Line Comedy Club tradition for more than 30 years, the SF Comedy Showcase opens the club’s star-studded stage to a roster of comedic up-and-comers. The Sunday show has played a role in the nascent careers of such standouts as Patton Oswalt, Margaret Cho, and Arj Barker, as well as launching many an amateur microphone into the national spotlight.

Punch Line Comedy Club

For more than 32 years, Punch Line Comedy Club has hosted such comedic greats as Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres, and Chris Rock. Backed by a panoramic mural of the cityscape, national acts and local favorites send their shrewd observations out to audience members, who seat themselves at tables nestled close to the stage in hopes of being baptized by a spit-take. The polished wood of the furniture and expansive bar reflect the grins of patrons enjoying beers and cocktails.

The Groupon Guide to: Controversial Cookie Ingredients

Not all cookie ingredients are created equal. We collected some quotes from frequent cookie consumers about the cookie ingredients they love to not enjoy. How many of these people do you strongly disagree with?

Golden Raisins: Sally Amsterfield of Warburn, Maine, says: "More like golden hate 'ems!"

Chopped Dates: Bill Waxly of Pinoa, Idaho, says: "If you have a first date, there might not be a second—yuck!"

Coconuts: Former president B. Clinton of 123 Whitehouse Lane is quoted as saying: "You'd have to be coco-nuts to eat that stuff!"

Cranberries: Hero astronaut Vanessa Maybury reports from the International Peace Satellite Persephone: "We're running out of oxygen—from gasping for an edible cookie! These cranberries should be called bland-berries. Please send help, over.”

Peppermint Chips: Dave "The Diamond" Reynolds says: "This is the first I'm hearing of these. I guess they could be good in the right kind of cookie but definitely not for every day. How did you get into my home?"

What are the least popular cookie ingredients of all time?
