Chronicling the dizzying rise and fame-induced tribulations of a 1960s Motown trio, Dreamgirls swept up six Tonys when it debuted in 1982, thanks to its show-stopping songs and tear-jerking drama. The curtain rises on lead singer Effie and her fellow Chicagoan bandmates Deena and Lorrell searching for their big break in New York. Soon Curtis, a smooth-talking used-car salesman, takes over as their manager and pushes them toward stardom with determination, bribery, and reorganization of the group’s dynamics. After Effie gets pushed to the sidelines in favor of Deena's marketability, the group begins to splinter amid jealousy, infidelity, and the difficulty of conducting heated arguments in multipart harmony. When Effie becomes pregnant with Curtis’s baby, he leaves her to raise the child alone and watch Deena Jones and the Dreams rocket to stardom without her. Soulful songs such as “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” and “One Night Only” swell to the melodies of the ‘60s and ‘70s, tickling ears while the trio trudges toward forgiveness and redemption.

Due to security restrictions, G-Passes must be printed out and presented in person at the event. They cannot be redeemed through Groupon's mobile app.

Rialto Square Theatre

Designed to mimic the French palace of Versailles, Rialto Square Theatre's magnificent interior awes showgoers with its gilded opulence. In the regal inner lobby, a 20-foot, 250-light chandelier—dubbed The Duchess—illuminates a circular series of delicate reliefs that depict allegories of man triumphing through labor and scenes from Greek mythology. A scaled-down replica of Paris's Arc de Triomphe leads from the lobby to the rotunda, adding to the space's grandeur and commemorating miniature Napoleon's victory at the adorable Battle of miniature Austerlitz.
