In a Nutshell

Easton Corbin, Jana Kramer, and Chuck Wicks prove that old-fashioned country is still going strong

The Fine Print

Music is the soundtrack to our lives--from the ballad you slow-danced to at senior prom to the ballad you slowly walked home alone to. Remember the good times with this GrouponLive deal to see Country at the Congress Presents: Easton Corbin with Jana Kramer and Chuck Wicks at Congress Theater. For $13, you get one ticket for general admission on Saturday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m. (up to a $29.75 value, including all fees). Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

With a lineup of three earnest, young country stars, the Congress proves beyond a doubt that old-fashioned love songs will never go out of style. Since his self-titled debut in 2010, headliner Easton Corbin has earned favorable comparisons to traditionalists such as George Strait and George Jones. His latest release, All Over the Road, covers love's peaks and valleys, from first sight to last dance. Like an oak tree with smartphones for leaves, the troubadour stays rooted in tradition while keeping up with modern times, inspiring Daryl Addison at Great American Country to note that the new album “successfully expands [Corbin's] sound with a dynamic collection that offers an impressive glimpse at where this road might be headed.”

Reinforcing the theme of reinventing old styles are Jana Kramer and Chuck Wicks. Kramer, a Patsy Cline–voiced beauty, got her first big break acting on One Tree Hill, whereas Wicks has melted the hearts of fathers and daughters all over the country since the release of his tender ballad “Stealing Cinderella” in 2007.

Congress Theater

With its gargantuan ballroom space, the Congress Theater is just as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the ears. The former movie palace, which boasts a curved upper deck lined with red-velvet seats, beckons concertgoers to its lushly vintage confines for country-music shows, bluegrass festivals, and electronic-music performances. Regardless of the act, audience members revel beneath an ornately decorated domed ceiling that's perfect for jetpack escapes when the dance floor gets too crowded. The theater also is branching out into its surrounding neighborhood by filling attached storefronts with restaurants, small grocers, and other community partners.
