In a Nutshell

British R & B singer lends her powerful pipes to hits “Hot Right Now” and “R.I.P.” alongside Cris Cab and Kat Graham

The Fine Print

Nothing can match the thrill of seeing a concert in person, not even watching it on high-definition Blu-ray or listening to it on a high-definition parrot. Get out of your cage with this GrouponLive deal to see HOB & 102 JAMZ Hook Up #2 Starring: Rita Ora and Special Guests at House of Blues Orlando. For $14, you get one G-Pass for general admission on Saturday, December 15, at 8 p.m. (up to a $26.50 value, including all fees). Doors open at 7 p.m. Because the ticket is a G-Pass, Groupon customers can use it to enter the venue directly; they will not need to redeem their Groupon at will call.

Although she only just released her debut album, Ora, in 2012, British singer Rita Ora has already toured with Coldplay, collaborated with Drake and Kanye West, and impressed music mogul Jay-Z so much that he signed her to his Roc Nation label. The prolific artist, who blends pop with R & B and jazz, lays down her powerful pipes on pulsing tracks such as “R.I.P.,” “How We Do (Party),” and “Hot Right Now.” During her live shows, Ora alternates between inciting the crowd to dance and exposing her vulnerability as she talks about what inspires her and encourages fans to sing their journal entries to each other.

Before Ora’s set, Miami crooner and Pharrell Williams protégée Cris Cab takes to the stage to belt out reggae-tinged hits such as “Good Girls (Don’t Grow on Trees),” and singer/dancer/Vampire Diaries actress Kat Graham shows off her soulful pipes on “Put Your Graffiti on Me.”

Ora performs “Shine Ya Light” on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Due to security restrictions, G-Passes must be printed out and presented in person at the event. They cannot be redeemed through Groupon's mobile app.

House of Blues Orlando

Perched in Downtown Disney West Side, House of Blues Orlando resembles something of a backwoods theme park itself. Giant signs herald the venue from atop an old water tower taken from Mickey Mouse’s ancestral estate, and between trees wrapped entirely in twinkling lights stands a sprawling, neon-lit wooden roadhouse whose stage and lantern-strung patio bustle with boisterous entertainments nearly every night. A box of Delta Mississippi mud beneath its stage links it to its sister locations across the country.

The Groupon Guide to: Award-Winning Documentaries

Critics have described this year’s crop of award-winning documentary films as “exciting,” “revelatory,” and “boring in the middle.” Here are the plot summaries for this season’s best documentaries:

  • A man only washes himself with industrial car-wash fluid for an entire year to prove that industrial car-wash fluid is bad for you.

  • A group of preteen world handwriting champions prepare for the greatest challenge yet—signing their own permission slips.

  • A woman who accidentally locked herself in her closet for five years reassimilates to living in the rest of her house.

  • A man who starred in an embarrassing 1980s public-service announcement about the dangers of eating shellfish has his humiliating past dug up by a documentary film crew.

  • A group of people who were born without joints in their toes climbs Mount Kilimanjaro.

  • The terrifying secret about how ice cream is made

  • A bunch of people who did drugs together at an abandoned airplane hangar in the ‘70s get back together to talk about it.

  • One man sets out to expose the problem with the country’s public schools by enrolling his dog in the country’s public schools and seeing if they notice.
