The Fine Print

Choose from Four Options

In what should be one of the biggest nights of the season, the Rampage face the Rockford IceHogs on pink ice during the third annual Pink in the Rink breast-cancer-awareness event, which sold out last season, on Friday, February 1, at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Choose from the following options:

  • $8 for one ticket in upper-balcony seating in sections 227–230 or 202–205 highlighted in tan (up to a $17.50 value, including all fees)
  • $10 for one ticket in lower-balcony seating in sections 227–230 or 202–205 highlighted in orange (up to a $23 value, including all fees)
  • $12 for one ticket in upper-balcony seating in sections 227–230 or 202–205 highlighted in tan and one hot dog, one bag of chips, and one soda (up to a $27 value, including all fees)
  • $15 for one ticket in lower-balcony seating in sections 227–230 or 202–205 highlighted in orange and one hot dog, one bag of chips, and one soda (up to a $33 value, including all fees)

The Scouting Report

Following their first-ever trip to the Western Conference semifinals of the Calder Cup last season, the Rampage continue to work through their 2012–13 campaign in search of a midseason surge up the conference standings. Through 40 games, center Greg Rallo has netted 13 goals, and wingman Jon Rheault has collected a team-best of 29 points. Goalie Dov Grumet-Morris, meanwhile, turns away pucks and stale donuts at a respectable 91.8% clip.

During February 1’s third-annual Pink in the Rink event, the Rampage skate on pink-colored ice, decked out in pink uniforms to support breast-cancer awareness.

San Antonio Rampage

As a franchise, the San Antonio Rampage has been around since the 1970s, and from 1979–1999, the team was known as the Adirondack Red Wings. The organization's modern incarnation finally skated onto American Hockey League ice in 2002, when it became the top-level affiliate of the Florida Panthers. In their decade-plus history—which includes a six-year stretch from 2005–2011 as the affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes—the Rampage have made three postseason appearances, highlighted by a trip to the Western Conference semifinals in 2011–12. The team plays its home games at the AT&T Center, where such off-the-ice entertainment as T-Bone the bull and the Ice Girls keep fans of all ages entertained while players break for tea.

The Groupon Guide to: Talking to Dogs

The mutual affinity between humans and dogs is often hampered by a natural language barrier. Fortunately, if spoken in an affectionate tone formerly reserved for babies, dogs are able to fully understand any of the following phrases:

  • “Whoosa good boy?”
  • “Go forra walk?”
  • “Thank you for that bird, but I don’t want that bird! Wanna go bury that bird? Who’s gonna go bury that bird?”
  • “Chew up this evidence of mail fraud! That’s my girl.”
  • “Wait a minute, who’s secretly been a dog-shaped pile of laundry this whole time? That’s right—YOU have!”

Can dogs really understand these phrases?
