The Scouting Report

With less than a quarter of the 2012–2013 regular season left, the veteran Spurs roster continues to drive past Father Time and deliver on the expectations of once again contending for the franchise's fifth NBA title. Boasting a 47–14 record through 61 games this season, the Spurs have climbed to the top of the Western Conference standings by excelling on both ends of the court; they fill up scoreboards with the conference's third-best offense while surrendering the fourth-fewest points defensively. The team also showcases an unmatched penchant for sharing, dishing out a league-high 25.3 assists per game and sporting uniforms knitted by each other's grandmas.

Meanwhile, the Spurs’ Developmental League affiliate, the Austin Toros, storms onto the court at Cedar Park Center in defense of its 2011–12 D-League championship. Not to be outdone by their NBA parent squad, the Toros have also emerged as a frontrunner this season, compiling a 22–14 record that has propelled them to the top of the Central Division standings.

San Antonio Spurs

As if remembering the Alamo 10 times over, the San Antonio Spurs have never relented in their pursuit of victory; with four NBA Championships since 1999—the fourth-most all-time among all NBA franchises—the team stands as one of the NBA's most successful dynasties. In fact, since the ABA–NBA merger in 1976–77, the Spurs have made the playoffs in all but four seasons, posting the third-highest all-time winning percentage among active franchises. Today's squad continues the Spurs' wild legacy at their home court inside the AT&T Center, an 18,581-seat arena filled with crowds swathed in black and silver. During timeouts and breaks in the action, the Silver Dancers keep fans energized with help from Coyote, a mascot known for giving out hugs and baying at the arena lights after mistaking them for the moon.

The Groupon Guide to: Skiing Sayings

Anyone who's spent a significant amount of time around professional skiers will tell you that downhill dunderheads (as they prefer to be called) have their own culture and way of speaking. Here are some phrases you can expect to hear the next time you’re sliding down the slopes:

  • It's all downhill from here!
  • I'm down with downhill skiing!
  • Head downhill, dummy!
  • Hey, look at me! I'm a character on Downhill Abbey!
  • What is that coat made of? Down? Hill ya later!
  • I'm king of the downhill!
  • Just call me Down Hill-ary because I'm the Hillary Clinton of downhill skiing!
  • Powder over chowder!

Who is the main character on the BBC's only show about skiing British royalty? Find out in today's Groupon Guide.
