The Scouting Report
After achieving a conference-best 14–4 record in the 2012 regular season, the San Antonio Talons fell just shy of an ArenaBowl appearance, losing to Utah in the National Conference semifinals by only one point. Hoping to conquer the regular season once again, head coach Lee Johnson leads the Talons into the season opener at the Alamodome, where they posted an 8–1 record last season. Along with a defense that led the league in tackles and a receiver corps composed entirely of peregrine falcons, 2012’s rushing leader Chad “Tank” Cook returns to the gridiron to build on last season’s 14 TDs.
San Antonio Talons
Formerly located in Tulsa, the Talons relocated their roost to San Antonio’s Alamodome for the 2012 season and soon commanded the skies, placing first in the AFL’s National Conference during their first regular season in Texas. As the players tackle opponents and lob passes on the 50-yard field, the Talons’ mascot, Swoop, pumps up fans while anxiously hoping they don’t crack the eggs incubating under their seats.
