Cover artists look and sound just like the real thing, unlike cover audiences, who are just used mannequins holding up lighters. See the real almost-real thing with this GrouponLive deal to see the "Viva Las Vegas Spectacular" at Clarke Theatre in Mission. For $35, you get two general-admission tickets for the show on Saturday, November 17, at 7:30 p.m. (a $70 value). Doors open at 7 p.m.
The stars of Sin City—or facsimiles thereof—come out to shine in this Vegas-aping extravaganza, which features showgirls, wondrous illusions, and tribute artists that channel Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe. Darren Lee dons the King’s rhinestone jacket and pompadour crown as he jostles his hips through “Hound Dog,” “Lawdy Miss Clawdy,” and, of course, “Viva Las Vegas.” Tara Shandel, on the other hand, captures Marilyn’s star power with wit, grace, and a mobile subway vent. To add a dash of awe, quick-change illusionist Steven Best conjures razor-sharp blades and mystifying illusions in the Superstars of Magic show, while his assistant Cassandra demonstrates an impossible flexibility and surprising willingness to be skewered. Completing the cast is a troupe of Premier Showgirls, each of whom has performed or starred in at least one Vegas stage show.
