Founded in 1880 under the belief that great music should be available for everyone, the Saint Louis Symphony delights audiences worldwide with exhilarating seasons of magnificent compositions. Don Davis, the composer of all three Matrix films, picks up his baton to guide the players through the first installment’s entire score. Combining classical instrumentation with electronic minimalism, the music from The Matrix has been praised for its avant-garde arrangements and dystopian bent. Pixelated drones and ominous keys gallop through the opening sequence, sending attendees on an aural odyssey that ends with the victorious brass of “Anything Is Possible,” which conjures images of a trench-coated Keanu Reeves launching into the air and through the dome of the theater. A look-alike contest and photo op will be held at 5:45 p.m. before each performance, giving fans the chance to dress as their favorite characters, such as Neo, Morpheus, or their beloved sidekick, C: prompt.

Powell Hall

Ornate chandeliers and a high-ceilinged auditorium are just two stunning features of Powell Hall, an opulent, Versailles-inspired concert venue built in 1925. Originally known as the Saint Louis Theatre, Powell Hall was bequeathed its new moniker after the Saint Louis Symphony Society won it during a heated card game with a band of ragtag vaudeville performers.
