The Scouting Report

Through 51 games, the Stars stand firmly atop the Western Conference standings with 68 points—well ahead of their rivals in the South Division. The team has a chance to widen the gap during two heated matches, including one against fellow postseason contender the Abbotsford Heat. Under the guidance of a first-year coaching staff, the Stars’ young players strive to prove their mettle and successfully build an igloo with salt spackling. Fueling the offensive effort, left-winger Matt Fraser leads the team with 22 goals and 11 assists in 48 games.

Texas Stars

As the AHL affiliate of their big-league Dallas namesake, the Texas Stars spared no time claiming their birthright. In its very first season—2009–10—the team conquered the Western Conference, hoisting the Robert W. Clarke Trophy and earning a place in the Calder Cup finals. Since every faceoff was past the newborn Stars’ bedtime, they ultimately fell short of the league championship, but they continue to entertain crowds of up to 6,800 at the Cedar Park Center.

The Groupon Guide to: Great Dates

Planning a date night is the most difficult part of beginning a relationship filled with mutual respect, lifetime companionship, and maybe even children, if one of you can get a couple days off from work every week to raise them. Earn the affection of your sweet honey with one of these popular date ideas:

  • Walk in the park
  • Walk in the park (angry, silent version)
  • Dinner and a movie and another small snack just because of blood-sugar reasons
  • A long, strenuous hike that tests your commitment to keeping each other alive
  • Holding each other close while huddled under a friend's porch waiting to jump out and surprise them
  • Couples massage and then couples getting dressed again without looking at each other
  • Whispering sweet nothings into each other's ears during a play and gradually getting louder until your relationship is the real play
  • Trying to kiss on an airplane (impossible because of low air pressure, but it makes a funny noise)

This kettle corn is making my blood feel much better.
