In a Nutshell

Equestrians and various horse breeds trot through a performance, and multitalented exotic birds play basketball and sing

The Fine Print

Performing animals have long been a source of entertainment for vacationing humans, just as synchronized swimmers have long been a source of comedy for vacationing dolphins. Feast your eyes on theatrical fauna with this GrouponLive deal to The Dancing Horses Theatre. For $17, you get one general-admission ticket and a backstage pass to The Dancing Horses Theatre and Exotic Bird Show (up to a $35 value), running on select dates December 8–February 28, including admission to the Dancing Horses Holiday Series if redeemed by January 15. Shows begin at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., and doors open one hour before showtime. Reserve a seat by following directions on the online schedule.

Children aged 3–12 are admitted for $12.50. Children 2 or younger are admitted for no charge and are welcome to sit on a parent’s lap or saddle.

The artful equestrians of The Dancing Horses Theatre draw upon their collective experience from Ringling Bros. Circus and Universal Studios Orlando to delight spectators with performances of equine grace. In the current show, the Holiday Series, the team prances through a 300-seat, climate-controlled arena, performing saddled acrobatics and displaying the strength of the human-equine bond familiar only to lifelong riders and horse psychiatrists. In their own arena, exotic birds from Animal Gardens showcase their advanced intellect with awe-inspiring displays. The parrots roller skate, play basketball, and sing in feathered choruses led by Echo, an Amazon parrot known for his performances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and America’s Got Talent. Backstage tours wind behind the scenes, where trainers host presentations on horse training before leading crowds to the stables to meet and pet the hoofed performers.

Recurring dreams can often be brief and haunting. But 6 miles west of Lake Geneva at a large theater in the center of 40 acres of wooded trails, Dana Montana happily watches her lifelong dream unfold at least six nights a week. Here, she takes center stage to introduce up to 300 guests to her beloved purebred Arabian horses that majestically trot out to join her. They entertain audiences alongside expert acrobatic performers and trainers, whose resumés include stints with the Ringling Bros. Circus, Walt Disney World, and Arabian Nights.

Garbed in sparkling bridles and feather-plumed headdresses, the magnificent steeds wow the crowd with dazzling footwork and quotes from Shakespeare’s lesser-known horse plays. Montana’s park also presents guests with an exotic bird show, a petting zoo, and a wildlife trail that blooms with fiery colors each fall.
