An art collection adds to the ambiance of a home and distracts family members from the fact that there are no walls. Cover up architectural absence with this GrouponLive deal to The Evansville Fine Art Show at The Centre. For $8, you get two one-day passes for general admission (up to a $16 value). The show runs from Friday, November 16, at 11 a.m. to Sunday, November 18, at 5 p.m. Children 12 and younger are admitted free.
Visual artists flock to Evansville in mid-November for a three-day celebration of original, handmade, visual treasures. After Mayor Lloyd Winnecke wields oversize shears to cut the ribbon and make a gigantic paper doll, guests head into The Centre to peruse and purchase original hand-made sculptures, paintings, photographs, jewelry, and mixed-media artworks or talk to the artists who personally made them. Participating creators contend for a portion of $1,500 in prizes awarded by a jury, and winners earn an automatic invitation to next year’s show. In the Emerging Artists section, patrons can check out offerings from students at the University of Evansville and the University of Southern Indiana, and the Youth Art section invites contributors ages 13–19 to supply their best work. When they aren’t hobnobbing with established and rising creators from across the Midwest, guests enjoy music, food, and live art demonstrations.
