The Wicked Wizard of Ahhs

When a tornado sweep through Kamas, it picks up the humble house of Dorrie and drops her off in the magical land of Ahhs. According to the Crunchkins she meets there, who have the snappy gang relations of West Side Story's Sharks and Jets, the only chance she has of getting back home is by visiting the mysterious Wizard. Along the way, young Dorrie meets a few friends—the Straw Man, Tin Can, and Lionel the Lion—and finds herself smack-dab in the middle of morality turf-war between Gwendolyn the Good Witch and Wicked Belva Bub. Bolstering her spirit as she goes are Broadway-style musical numbers, slapstick comedy, zingers about local landmarks, zippy dialogue from playwright Eric R. Jensen, and a copy of Chicken Soup for the Unknowingly Unconscious Girl's Soul.

The Off Broadway Theatre

The name doesn't lie—located in Salt Lake City, The Off Broadway Theatre is about as far from The Great White Way as you can get. But geography hasn't stopped the space from staging New York-caliber classic musicals and original comedies for nearly 20 years. The auditorium rings with laughter during beloved productions such as Little Shop of Horrors and The Pirates of Penzance, and house-written parodies including The Adventures of Sheer-Luck Homes and Snotson , The X-Mas Men, and Dracula vs. any number of monsters once portrayed by Boris Karloff. Audience members get the chance to join in on the hilarity during interactive sets from the resident jokesters of the Laughing Stock Comedy Troupe.
