From November 1–4, a mass of culinary minds assemble in Las Vegas to compete for a total prize purse of $300,000 and the title of World Food Champion. Chefs enter into one of seven categories and attempt to charm judges with their own spin on a classic American dish, such as chili, barbecue, or sandwiches. The seven who emerge as champion from each category then meet at the Final Table Showdown, where emcee Adam Richman—best known for his duties hosting Man v. Food Nation—stewards over a timed cook-off held in front of a live audience, a panel of celebrity judges, and judgmental television cameras. Judges impart their opinion on the flavor, presentation, and catwalk of each dish before a champion is crowned.

On the evening before the final showdown, competitors and food enthusiasts gather for the Feast Under the Stars at Bally's Pool, also hosted by Richman. Guests and celebrity judges celebrate the seven champions while sampling cuisine inspired by the cooking categories from which they emerged. The World Food Championships request that spectators arrive in business-casual dress, so guests should leave their aprons and onesies made entirely of iceberg lettuce at home.
