Chocolat Uzma Sharif's kitchen becomes a classroom as you assume the role of chocolatier in a hands-on workshop. Owner Uzma Sharif helps you choose your ingredients from a stockpile of exotic spices, herbs, fruit, and liqueurs. She then shows you how to hand roll truffles, decorate them, and delicately nestle them in a box to take home. You'll also leave with a truffle recipe, so you can recreate your chocolaty creations in your own kitchen. Feel free to bring some wine and beer, along with all the necessary openers and plastic wear. Participants work in pairs, even if they don't know one another.

Uzma Sharif's family history with chocolate stretches back to long before she was born. Her grandfather, who was a renowned pastry master in Pakistan, showed her the chocolate-coated ropes, helping make her a third-generation chef in the process. Building on her family's teachings, Uzma attended the Colorado Mountain Culinary Institute in Keystone. But in many ways, the entire world became her classroom. She trekked through Europe and Asia, picking up different techniques and flavors along the way. Today, her chocolates and small-batch confections reflect her many travels, incorporating ingredients from Italy, Australia, Madagascar, and other regions.

The building that houses Chocolat Uzma Sharif used to be an art gallery. Depending on how you look at it, things haven't really changed. Creative works are everywhere within the shop, taking the form of handmade chocolates that owner Uzma Sharif crafts in small batches each day. All of the ingredients infused into these decadent treats are hand-selected by Uzma herself. Indeed, the chocolatier takes an active role in all aspects of the shop. She even designs her own packaging.
