This Valentine’s Day, four of the sultriest singing acts from the past 20 years warm hearts and eardrums with soulful R & B melodies. K-Ci & JoJo’s “All My Life” builds off the instantly recognizable piano intro, and their follow-up hit “Tell Me It’s Real” entrances ears with intertwined harmonies.

With voices as smooth, cool, and well-preserved as ice cream, the four gentlemen of Shai seduced radios in the mid-1990s in their breakout hit, “If I Ever Fall In Love.” Recorded and passed along to a DJ while the group was still in college, the song grabbed the attention of numerous record labels, and Shai’s career took off.

Bobby V first ventured into the music world at the age 16 as a part of the group Mista, but he made his first big impression with his 2005 solo single “Slow Down,” released on Ludacris’s label, DTP. His newest album, Dusk Till Dawn, goes back to the basics, leading Vibe magazine to remark, “[Bobby] blesses courtship soundtracks and breakup odes with candy-flavored falsettos, reminding us why comfort zones sound so cozy.”

Blackstreet’s first big hit was “Before I Let You Go,” a plea for understanding and a kiss goodnight. When they aren’t radiating romance, the group inspires tapping feet with “No Diggity,” a collaboration with Dr. Dre that reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
