New York music director and conductor George Hemcher and an international cast of golden throats join the company for Johann Strauss II's sprightly tale of 19th century Austrian intrigue in Die Fledermaus—German for "the bat." Following the jail-dodging machinations of protagonist Eisenstein, the misfortunes of his unfaithful wife's lover, and an elaborate revenge plot set at a lavish masquerade ball, the fast-moving story keeps audiences enthralled with mistaken identities, amorous escapades, and rollicking music. The cast performs the songs in German but presents the dialogue in English, eliminating the need for an interpreter or an emergency trip to Europe.
