In a Nutshell

Samba bands, capoeira performances, and authentic Brazilian cuisine entice more than 4,000 visitors in a celebration of Brazilian culture

The Fine Print

Seeing music live is a great way to really feel the music, especially when you position yourself directly between the cymbals. Be at the center of it all with this GrouponLive deal to Vegas Loves Brazil at Clark County Amphitheater. For $20, you get two tickets for general admission (a $5 value each) and two Vegas Loves Brazil T-shirts (a $20 value each) on Saturday, April 13, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. (a $50 total value).

The infectious rhythms of Brazilian samba, bossa nova, and lambada energize the crowd at Clark County Amphitheater, where more than 4,000 visitors mingle and sample authentic Brazilian cuisine and libations. Vegas Loves Brazil—a spirited daylong celebration started by a small group of friends—immerses festivalgoers in the eclectic cultures of Brazil with live bands, dance performances, and kid-friendly carnival rides. The centuries-old martial-arts discipline known as capoeira takes center stage in its own lively exhibition, drawing oohs and aahs with its flurry of leg sweeps and quick dance-like moves set to music. Elsewhere, dancers decked out in bright elaborate costumes shimmy to drumbeats as their sparkling headdresses tower with feathers borrowed from Big Bird’s toupee collection. A portion of the festival’s proceeds will go to Children’s Heart Center.

The Groupon Guide to: Fighting Crime

While the police largely discourage comic book-inspired vigilantism, there are still a number of less flamboyant ways to combat crime in your community:

  • If you see something, say something—for instance, if you see a weird bug, make sure to tell everyone you meet that day about it.

  • Install intense floodlights in your bedroom so that no burglars can hide in the shadows and watch you sleep.

  • Teach children to trust the police by visiting schools dressed as something children already trust: a giant, talking dog wearing a policeman’s hat, with huge, unblinking plastic eyes.

  • Join a neighborhood watch, wherein adjacent neighborhoods volunteer to take turns staying up all night and watching each other to make sure no crimes happen.

  • When all else fails, join up with the lawless bands of lunatics who run your streets—you might be surprised how quickly you discard all morality in exchange for a skewer of boar meat roasted over a flaming garbage can.

Can you fight crime in your neighborhood by volunteering to never sleep again? Find out with today's Groupon Guide.
