Since their Toronto location opened in 1976, Yuk Yuk's has been a collective launching pad for such comedy heavyweights as Jim Carrey, Rick Moranis, and Russell Peters. Yuk Yuk’s London stage makes way for a stampede of funny people spearheaded by stand-up veterans and up-and-comers, including affable comic Rob Ross (November 15), who often riffs on television writing and TV dinners with a calm and collected charm. Staring down the audience like a cute and ravenous dog, Just for Laughs Comedy Festival veteran Darren Frost (November 22) gets down and dirty in his high-strung routine, filling swear jars with his uproarious and unfiltered rants. Disarmingly nonchalant comedian, screenwriter, and author of the novel The Other Oprahs Michael Gelbart (November 29) makes cheekbones ache and funny bones quiver as he ad-libs and delivers tightly crafted "smashes" against celebrities, obnoxious parents, and girls with annoying ex-boyfriends. Yuk Yuk's opens their full bar and dinner menu one hour before the show and continues serving until the curtain drops or a prop comic breaks the last dish.
