Yoga is a much easier way to exercise both mind and body than testing Einstein's theory of relativity by racing a beam of light. Travel at lithe speed with this GrouponLive deal to Yoga Rave Chicago at Logan Square Auditorium. For $17, you get one general-admission ticket for Friday, October 19, at 7 p.m. (up to a $28 value, including fees). Doors open at 6 p.m. and the event closes at 11 p.m. Yoga Rave Chicago is an all-ages event.

Unlike anyone nicknamed Tiny, Yoga Rave is just what it says it is. The event opens with warm-up poses, exercises, and a guided meditation before the hardwood floor explodes into a club-worthy jubilee flooded with pulsing lights and electronic beats spun into the air by DJs and live musicians. At a Yoga Rave event in Manhattan in May 2012, the New York Times declared it “downward dog at the club."

With a fall 2012 tour scheduled for stops in L.A., San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Chicago, Yoga Rave is a combination concept that has blossomed since its original initiative by the 30-year-old Art of Living Foundation. These spiritual, nonprofit founders herald the event as an evening of music, movement, and meditation that capitalizes on natural enthusiasm rather than excitement sparked by drugs, alcohol, or spiked soy milk. The party’s entertainment centerpiece has been the So What Project, an Argentinian duo who sample electro beats and rock riffs alongside 1,000-year-old mantras. To refuel, ravers can visit a bar stocked with gourmet vegetarian food and exotic drinks that are energizing and alcohol-free.

Proceeds raised benefit YesPlus, an organization dedicated to bringing young people yoga, meditation, and stress reduction. For sights and sounds from the Philadelphia Yoga Rave earlier this year, check out this video. Sample the sounds of the So What Project at their MySpace page.

Logan Square Auditorium

The quaint stage and rustic second-story bannister of the Logan Square Auditorium would fit right in at any small-town ballroom. But the venue lies just steps away from the actual Logan Square, a bustling urban neighborhood landmarked by an eagle perched atop the marble column of the Illinois Centennial Monument. The auditorium earned the distinction of being named 2009’s Best All-Ages Venue by the Chicago Reader, which praised it for booking a blend of diverse acts that “just makes it more lovable.”
