The rules state that the user "must show valid ID matching name on Groupon at Yuk Yuk's." Does this mean that even if I buy it as a gift (use my own credit card and account, but just click the 'buy for a friend' option) that I must still attend with the person that I am giving the gift to because my name will be on the Groupon? Or will I be able to give the groupon to someone whom I bought it for and they will be able to use it without me and my ID being there? thank you!

You are welcome to gift the Groupon to someone else, even if you're not attending. When you go to the checkout page, there will be a field titled "Additional Information" where you need to enter the name of the person retrieving the tickets. Be sure to enter the gift recipient's name in that field, as they will need to present their ID along with the Groupon.
