In a Nutshell

While sipping on glasses of wine, students re-create a painting on a 16”x20” canvas with guidance from the instructor

The Fine Print

  • Expires Mar 16, 2013
  • Limit 1 per person, may buy 1 additional as gift. Valid only for option purchased. Limit 1 per visit. Reservation required.
  • See the rules that apply to all deals.

Art explores the great mysteries of the world, such as the secret of Mona Lisa's smile and why the Renaissance was swarming with winged babies. Delve into the unknown with this Groupon.

Choose Between Two Options

  • $20 for an adults-only BYOB canvas-painting session and supplies for one person (a $43 total value)
  • $35 for the same deal as above, but for two people (an $86 total value)

Check the calendar for upcoming sessions and paintings. Adults-only BYOB classes are typically held on weeknights; participants should arrive 15 minutes early to check in.

Glazed Expressions

"This is an art party—not an art class," cautions Glazed Expressions on its canvas-class page. The classes' genial atmosphere, upbeat music, and frequent BYOB options aren't the only things that turn these educational courses into rollicking celebrations, either. Rather than teaching the dry topics of theory and composition, instructors at each art-filled get-together simply guide painters through the steps required to re-create the image chosen for the session. Though all of the paintings end up looking essentially the same, each painter's individual creativity still comes through, whether in the shape of a tree branch, the hue of an ocean wave, or the size of Anne Boleyn's neck tattoo.

The Groupon Guide to: Diary Greetings

Fewer and fewer people are keeping diaries now that it's possible to quickly broadcast your feelings on social-media sites such as Facebook, TalkHole, and Spewr. If you're holding on to the past, at least keep your diary entries fresh by starting them with one of these "Dear Diary" substitutes:

  • Hello, book
  • Good to see you, paper thing
  • Diary, you're the only one that listens to me. Here I go!
  • Hey journal, you ready for some illegible scribbles?
  • Good morning, and thank you for letting me do this to you again.
  • OK, time to cover your body in my feelings.
  • Greetings, may our time together be fruitful (kiss the diary).
  • Vrrrrooom! Here comes the choo-choo pen down the diary tracks!
  • I've done terrible things and these are a few.

Spewr lets you share your feelings with friends—on the Internet!
