Can 2 people ride for the $5O?
taking in the SAn Diego Zoo surely must put one over the 2.5 hr. limit.
Are the tours offered ones that can be reasonably done in 2.5 hours??
oh, and what is the charge for going over??
are there any other charges…say for insurance (like on a car rental)?
The deal says that two people can go. I checked their web site and there are charges if you go over the 2.5 hours. They charge you in increments of 15 minutes and they say that additional time is billed at $29 per hour. Insurance is $12 per day. This is the info that is on their web site. It seems like a pretty good deal.
Im trying to reserve this online they dont even have 2.5 hour option.
We bought this deal last time it was available, and when I recently called to redeem it, the guy who answered said they were only accepting Groupons on weekdays. This was not a written restriction anywhere, either on the Groupon or website. When we called back again, we were told there were no restrictions, just call to make reservations a week in advance.
Basically, the 1 hour tour is extended to a 2.5 hour tour, and you can pick which tour you want to do.

Lindsay, I don’t know why that was mentioned about not using it on weekends. The only restriction is if it is available. It seems that whomever you spoke to the second time got it right. I will touch base with the owner so the reps are sure to know that you can use it during the weekends as well, again, subject to availability.

Is the deposit taken at time of rental? Or when you buy the coupon?… I’m assuming when you pick up the rental?

“Limit 1 per person, may purchase multiple as gifts.” I am thinking of buying 2 as gifts, but the gifts would both be for my parents (so one driver, my father). Is that not allowed? Could I get some clarification on the per-person bit and how that works? Thanks!
I don’t have a credit card, only a debit card. Can I still rent one of your cars?

It means that each person can only use one Groupon so if you purchase this for your father, he would not be able to use another Groupon for a GoCar. You do not have to purchase one for yourself.
Also keep in mind that the Groupon is good for one GoCar which holds 2 people, so one will work for both your parents.

You can use a debit card, but they advise against it. The bank normally holds those funds as pending for a few days after you use it for the deposit, because they think the transaction still may be taking place. So, if you are ok with your bank kind of putting a hold on that money for a few days then you can use it. That is what GoCar has told me and I wanted to make sure you were aware.

This is a GREAT deal have purchased one in the past and had a great time….Best way to see the city! Had issues with the go-car but the folks at the rental were great and gave us an extra hour on the car….Great time and great folks to deal with!
So it looks like only one groupon is needed PER Car and that 2 people can ride in THAT car together. Right?
If you buy 2 groupons then it can be for 4 people renting 2 cars (2 per car)
or 1 person per car renting 2 cars

I’m sorry. It might be because it’s Friday and I’m starting to look cross-eyed at my screen, but your question confused me a little. Let me see if I can take a stab and answering it.
1 Groupon = 1 GoCar which up to 2 people can ride in. Each person may only take advantage of this offer one time. If you purchase 2 Groupons the numbers increase accordingly, or 2 GoCars with up to 2 people in each.

when i was planning a do-the-SF-tourist-thing trip i considered gocar. i decided against it after reading the yelp reviews (link text). i looked past the star rating and read others’ experiences. gocar’s customer service seemed hit and miss. i passed cause who wants to take the risk with an out of town guest?

Well, don’t know about others and haven’t done it myself, but see people all the time riding those little yellow cars. The deal seems great, and to be honest, SF is very easy to go around. It’s hard to get lost, really, streets are like a grid/parallel :)
The only thing with SF, is hit or miss weather, other than that…any visitor will be fine
I agree with Natalie – SF is awesome…yelp isn’t always a reliable source either so live life and enjoy the experience…when ever I’ve seen people riding those cars they are always smiling and having a great time
Sorry if this is has already been answered. Upon purchasing the $50, is your credit card also charged the $300 deposit? Or are you just asking for a credit card so that in the event something happens, you can charge the card (at that time) the $300? Trying to get all of my friends to do this, but they won’t buy if their cards are charged an additional $300. Thanks!

The credit card you use for purchasing your Groupon doesn’t have anything to do with the $300 deposit. You will put a credit card down for that the day you use your Groupon w/GoCar.

Sorry, you can not combine two Groupons for 5 hours. However, once you arrive you can pay the difference and use the GoCar for 5 hours if you would like.

The fine print for the feature will always state any restrictions, in this case it does state that the driver must have a valid license.

I just spoke with someone over at Go Cars and they definitely have the availability for about 15-17 cars on the date/time we’re looking at (a Saturday in May).
However, when I mentioned that we have Groupons, he balked and said he needed to talk to his colleagues, since he said they usually do the Groupons on weekdays. I am waiting to hear back from him, but would like to find out if there’s anyone else I should contact.

This was the most horrible Groupon ever – avoid these guys! We bought it, as it sounded like fun – and planned a weekend around it. So we got a hotel in San Francisco, but several weeks before then, when we called to reserve, they told me because it was a Groupon they would only book us at 4 PM at end of day, but we could come by earlier to see if they may have a car for us. So we booked for 4, and came by earlier – they said they had a car for us. But the first car we tried was broken down, and could not start. The second car they gave us had a broken GPS – it wouldn’t “talk” with the directions. So we took it back and the Staffer tried to fix it, but couldn’t. So then Go Car said they had no available cars at that location for the day. We didn’t get our ride. Go Car they said there was nothing more they could do, and couldn’t refund us, and referred us back to Groupon. This Go Car deal was a total bummer. Buyer beware!!!
