Commonly Asked Questions

Is one $55-value deal for two people? How many people of the crew will be on the yacht other than the passengers?

The $55 deal is per person. There is typically 1 or 2 crew on the boat and a maximum of 10 passengers/students. I hope this answers your question and look forward to seeing you on the water this summer.

If I wanted to do the weekend sail, do I just mention this when I book my trip? Also, I didn't see anything about age restrictions - would this be suitable for my 7 year-old son who has never sailed?

Hi Angie; For weekend sails you simply pay the weekend premium at the time of making your on-line booking on our calendar page. there is no age restrictions, however our policy for children under 12 is that they must be wearing a PFD while on the boat at all times and one child per adult. We have children's PFDs avaiilable for rent at a cost of $12. Please send us an email when you make your online reservation so that we make sure we have one for your sail.

More Questions and Answers

Hi THere, I have a 13 year old son who has done some sailing and LOVES it. Would this be suitable for him? Will he get value from the lesson if he has already done some sailing? Thinking about it as an added Birthday gift. Look forward to your response. Regards Keri

Hi Keri; it's a different type of sailing (large boat vs. dingy) from what he is used to. but its a great opportunity to introduce him to the next level. so yes he would love it i'm sure. just be careful because he will now want a bigger boat for christmas. looking forward to seeing you both on the water.

Keri C.

Well actually Aidan has done sailing on larger boats and has actually participated in some races. These were NOT dingy's although he took his first official dingy training this past summer. Most of his education has been hands on, on a friends boat. I guess that I want to ensure that it is more of a learning then just a pleasure type environment although since he LOVES to sail it would be a pleasure regardless.

Hi Keri; It is more than just a leisurely sail but it is not intensive instruction.

Is there any chance of 3.5 hrs of relatively intense hands-on instruction rather than an island tour? Or would it really depend on whom else signed up for the same time?

Johnny W. asked 4 months, 9 days, 10 hours, and 40 minutes ago - 1 answer

hc

The 3.5 hour introductory sail covers raising/lowering sails, some upwind sail trim and steering. the intensity is based upon on wind conditions. questions are always answered and we go and depending on the conditions we describe and act accordingly. If you are looking for a more intensive course, we offer the Sail Canada Basic Keel Boat Cruising Course over 30 hours for $750.00 (HST included until Jan 20, 2013) If you would like more information please free to contact us via phone 416 529 4361
