A Lincoln Park landmark since 1960, Roy's Furniture has been filling generations of Chicago homes with fine furnishings and appliances. It grew from humble beginnings to a multigenerational kingdom, even as it moved from its original location to a new Sheffield storefront. But even after 32 years at their new address, they weren't immune to tragedy—in 2012, a massive fire broke out in the back warehouse of the store, and more than five decades of history and memories were reduced to ashes.
But it takes more than that to destroy a family legacy. A groundswell of community support helped Roy's stay afloat even after their main location was lost, and in October of the following year, they were able to re-open their showroom at their original Sheffield address. There, knowledgeable staff members guide patrons through a variety of custom-fabric options and upholstery sizes to give rooms a new identity. Eco-friendly mattresses, boogieman-proof bed frames, and other heavy lifts can be delivered to homes or retrieved at the warehouse.
