Colors often reflect the mood of the person wearing them; dark blues can imply sadness, bright yellows give a sense of joy, and tie-dye the warning that their 13 personalities are arguing. See the power of color first hand with this Groupon.

The Deal

  • $30 for entry to the Graffiti Run 5K (a $55 value)

On Sunday, September 1, runners will swarm the streets of New Orleans for the annual Graffiti Run. The first wave departs at 9 a.m. with waves following every 10 minutes. Armed with a race T-shirt, headband, and color packet, runners dash, dance, prance, and skip along the 5K course with the goal of finishing in the most fun and most colorful way possible. Proceeds from the race benefit local charities.

The Colorful 5K

The creators of The Colorful 5K use the term “run” very loosely. Less of a race, and more a celebration of the human spirit, the Graffiti Run encourages participants to dash, dance, prance, skip, cartwheel, or walk the course as they douse each other in vibrant hues that span the full spectrum. Each run also donates a portion of proceeds to a local charity, which range from Special Olympics affiliates and scholarship funds to city cleanup and beautification projects.

“We had a great time at the graffiti run. I might suggest that the organizers make sure that the volunteers at the color stations understand that this is supposed to be fun for them as well as the runners. Some of the stations were great and others you could tell that they really didn't want to be there. ”
