Gravy For The Brain
Talk is cheap, but acting and voiceover work pays. That's why Gravy for the Brain offers online courses both in acting and in voiceover work, the latter by prolific voiceover artist Peter Dickson and voice director Hugh Edwards, and the former an in-depth introduction to screen and stage acting by famed British actor Raji James.
Students beginning the Intro to Acting Course chart their first steps into the world of drama with a history of acting before moving onto an overview of the two main acting forms; method and naturalistic acting. Students learn the keys to characterization, picking up tips originally given by Michael Caine, and study the differences between stage and screen performing. Practical exercises allow students put their skills into action, helping them to learn lines effectively and consider their character's motives. The course concludes by teaching students how to properly market themselves through the use of head-shots and CVs–and all students receive a certificate upon completing the course.
During the voiceover course, pupils pick up all the necessary skills to make them commercially successful, including microphone techniques, proper breathing, self-recording, and reading copy aloud while resisting saying "stop" after every sentence. In addition to general voiceover classes, Gravy For The Brain offers more targeted sessions including voiceover for video games and a master class in casting.
