The Issue: Keeping Kids Engaged Over the Summer

The People for Parks Garden provides a free opportunity for children and their parents to play outside in nature and inject physical activity into their schedules. The organization needs help funding a shed to store its gardening equipment.

The Campaign: Building a Shed to Store Garden Supplies

If this Grassroots campaign raises $450, then People for Parks Oregon can fund materials and equipment to construct a shed for housing garden equipment at the People for Parks Garden. Each additional $10 raised will go toward funding educational materials for the garden. The shed will serve as a central space to organize teaching resources, interactive learning items, and garden supplies over the winter.

People for Parks Oregon

People for Parks Oregon works to improve parks and recreational opportunities in Multnomah County. Over the next few years it aims to expand community gardens, improve afterschool and summer recreation programs, complete previously planned improvements that did not originally receive adequate funding, and sponsor jobs for young people that help protect the region’s natural areas. To educate the local population, People for Parks Oregon also organizes children’s garden activities and teaches college students how to replicate those community and children’s garden programs in their own regions.
