The Fine Print

The Issue: Animal Overpopulation and Overcrowded Shelters

Each year, four million cats and dogs are euthanized in shelters across the country due to overpopulation and overcrowded shelters, according to The Humane Society of the United States. Though adopting pets from animal shelters can help avoid some of these deaths, spaying or neutering cats and dogs is a simple, effective method to prevent the existence of future offspring that could become homeless.

The Campaign: Spaying or Neutering Stray Cats

If this Grassroots campaign raises $500, then PetPromise can spay or neuter 10 stray or feral cats through its City Kitty program. Each additional $50 raised will be used to spay or neuter another cat.

Since 1996, PetPromise's founders and network of volunteers have been rescuing and finding homes for stray cats and dogs. Along with rescuing stray animals from the streets and local shelters, the no-kill animal-welfare organization spays or neuters feral cats or pets whose owners need financial assistance. PetPromise also is in the process of creating an animal-care and adoption center to serve as a home-like sanctuary for animals as they await adoption.
