The Issue: Excessive Energy Use and High Utility Costs

According to the Environmental Defense Fund, $25 billion is lost each year in inefficient power transmission and distribution. Simple energy-efficient upgrades, such as weather-stripping windows and replacing incandescent light bulbs, can help homeowners save money on utility costs and reduce their overall consumption of energy.

The Campaign: Energy-Efficient Household Upgrades

If this Grassroots campaign raises $88, then Rebuilding Together Sacramento can provide a low-income household with energy-efficient upgrades, including CFL light bulbs, toilet flapper valves, water-heater blankets, weather stripping, and a low-flow showerhead. Each additional $88 raised will provide upgrades for another home.

About (G-TEAM) Rebuilding Together Sacramento

Driven by the philosophy that everyone deserves a safe and efficient home, Rebuilding Together Sacramento works to preserve and revitalize the homes of those who may face challenges to performing regular home maintenance or obtaining necessary upgrades, including elderly people, people in low-income communities, and those with disabilities. Along with installing energy-efficient upgrades, the organization provides minor repairs and safety modifications—such as fire detectors, shower stools, and transition ramps—to help ensure that older residents can continue to reside in their homes safely.
