The Issue: Underserved Expectant Mothers

Health insurance, financial resources, and emotional support are key factors in expectant mothers' access to prenatal health care. Inadequate prenatal care, according to a public-health-surveillance report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has been associated with increased risks of premature and low-weight births, along with infant and maternal mortality.

The Campaign: Providing Comprehensive Prenatal Care

If this Grassroots campaign raises $500, then Womankind can provide comprehensive prenatal care for one underserved pregnant woman. Each additional $10 raised will help provide prenatal care for another expectant mother.

Womankind

Womankind empowers underserved expectant mothers with the services necessary for a healthy pregnancy, such as pregnancy testing, prenatal care, professional counseling, and childbirth classes. More than 1,700 women each year find support in Womankind's services, all provided at no cost and administered by Womankind's staff and volunteers, including physicians, nurses, certified nurse-practitioners, and a licensed independent social worker. The organization welcomes all women in need of pregnancy support, including those facing financial difficulty or a lack of health insurance. In 2011, Womankind provided comprehensive prenatal care at no cost to 384 pregnant clients during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy who lacked insurance or financial support.

Marbles is a game believed to involve drawing a chalk circle and populating it with collectible glass marbles of varying color and size. Since the last person who actually knew how to play "marbles" passed away in 1956, modern game theoreticians can only speculate about the rules:
