A professional guide leads duos of all skill levels on full-day float trips down a stretch of the Deerfield, Green, or Millers Rivers for catch-and-release recreation. The company loads anglers up with all the equipment necessary to wrangle fish such as steelhead trout, wild browns, or striped bass, including G. Loomis and Nautilus reels; G. Loomis, Sage, and Orvis rods; and hand-tied flies. Between casts, guests can munch on a deli lunch. GSOutfitting recommends anglers bring seasonal clothes, boots or waders, sunscreen, and a hat.

Each participant must possess a valid Massachusetts fishing license, which can be purchased online.

An outdoorsman since birth and G. Loomis–endorsed guide, GSOutfitting's owner, Eric Gass, grew up hunting and fishing the Pioneer Valley and Berkshires. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Eric returned to guiding and now fishes and hunts with his faithful gordon setter, Duncan, by his side.

Eric's business partner, fly-fishing guide Michael Kocot, studied fisheries science and aquaculture in college and uses this knowledge to lead groups as a G. Loomis–endorsed guide and suspected Aquaman alter ego. With their combined powers, Eric and Michael lead fly-fishing trips aboard their 13.5-foot Aire drift raft, as well as local hunting trips for turkey and grouse.   • Turn on your computer's spam-blocking filter. This will automatically get rid of any email that isn't from a blood relative, parole officer, or shoe website with wonderful sale prices.

  • Get offline for a while. The best way to escape from a computer virus is to unplug, disconnect, and spend a few weeks shouting your feelings at neighbors instead of pouring them into an uncaring, soulless social network.
