As long as you are 21 years of age, have a valid license, and proof of insurance, you have the option to drive or ride as a passenger with the professional driver for the full set of laps.

What does it mean must have proof of individual insurance? Is this regular car insurance or does the insurance have to cover the car driven?

You have to have your own car insurance that covers rental cars. Full coverage insurance definitely works, otherwise you will have to check with your insurance company about your specific policy if you're not sure.
