According to the Arizona Department of Economic Security, approximately 21 children per day were removed from their homes due to child neglect and abuse, amounting to 4,000 new removals in the six-month period leading up to March 2011. Crisis Nursery support homeless, abused, and neglected children and their families by providing free medical and counseling services and an overnight shelter that houses youth during emergencies or periods of stress.
In 2010, Crisis Nursery’s Children’s Shelter cared for 505 children with 24/7 emergency services. 46% of the young people admitted are homeless, 40% face parental health and psychological problems and abuse, and 23% undergo domestic violence, abuse, and neglect at home. The shelter satisfies immediate needs with new clothing and medical attention, and comprehensive services also include educational opportunities and behavioral services with nurturing staff members to help make young people feel at ease during traumatic periods. Crisis Nursery also works with parents to help resolve the crisis and get kids safely back into homes. An overnight stay for one person costs the organization $75, including staff supervision, housing including utilities and phone service, a day's worth of food, and program supplies.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help support abused, neglected, and homeless youth. If G-Team members raise $380, then Crisis Nursery can provide emergency shelter and services for five children. Each additional $75 raised will fund a one-day and one-night stay in the children’s shelter.
