Heartland Farm Sanctuary provides care and a peaceful, safe environment for homeless farm animals and creates programs that cultivate animal-human bonds to improve the animals' quality of life and benefit vulnerable children. As part of its community-outreach efforts, Heartland Farm Sanctuary's Farm on Wheels program serves special-needs, seriously ill, or at-risk children by bringing farm animals to Madison-area nonprofit organizations, where children can learn more about the animals and participate in therapeutic activities with them under the supervision of Heartland's staff and volunteers.
