  • $45 for a two-hour outrigger-canoe lesson and tour for two (a $98 value)

During the two-hour canoe trip, guides reveal the scenic wonders of Maunalua Bay, beginning with a 30-minute onshore lesson in safety, paddling technique, and outrigger-canoe history. Tours then shove off in double-hulled canoes, rhythmically zipping forward as the guide narrates the wonders of the bay. With majestic cliffs and the Koko Head Crater dominating the background, wayfarers keep alert for sightings of whales, dolphins, turtles, and teenage turtles on spring break. All equipment is provided, but each person should bring a bathing suit, a beach towel, sunscreen, and a water bottle.

Hawaiian Surf Adventures

The enthusiastic wave-tamers at Hawaiian Surf Adventures infuse students with their waterlogged passions for surfing, standup paddleboarding, and outrigger canoeing. With access to areas such as the uncrowded waters of Maunalua Bay, instructors give their students the space needed to learn how to balance atop a board while riding the backs of white-crested, aqua-blue waves or vacationing Loch Ness monsters. Whether paddling surfboards, hanging ten, or navigating a canoe, the team makes adventures easy for beginners and informative for more seasoned watersports enthusiasts.

The Groupon Guide to: Typing Techniques

In grade schools, children are taught one way to type on a computer keyboard—with their hands and not at all with their tiny, perfectly suited for typing toes. Here are some other typing techniques not taught in America's learning rooms:

Hunt and Peck: One of the slower typing methods, it involves the typist "hunting" for each letter individually and then "pecking" the letter with a long cane.

Touch Typing: The same as the standard typing technique, but instead of touching the keyboard, let the keyboard touch you.

Fast Fingers: Standard typing technique, but a little bit faster.

Fancy Fingers: Pretty much the same as "fast fingers," but a little bit slower, and your fingers dance upon the keys like a dainty woman’s feet upon a wet dance floor.

No Fingers: Just throw a rock at the keyboard until you hit the key you want. If you end up breaking the keyboard, buy a new one and start over with a smaller rock.

I'm so proud of my son. He learned how to type with a cane.
