i am of mixed race (african-american & caucasian) and have thick, curly hair. would a brazilian blowout be effective for my hair texture?

Does this deal work also for Men’s haircuts?

Like Jan I am mixed and had a relaxer/texterizer done on my hair at least 6 months ago. Can I get the brazilian blowout right away or will the treatment damage my hair?

Is this the Brazilian Blowout where I can wash my hair immediately? Or the one where I have to wait a few days? The Head and Soul Salon website doesn’t list the Brazilian Blowout.

I just had a brazilian blow out 7 weeks ago and you wait 3 full days without washing your hair so it’s good to plan for that. Love it!

I’ve had one done before and have naturally thick curly hair. It gets rid of frizz and relaxes your hair so that it’s smooth. It does not make thick curly hair straight, but it is much easier to blow dry it straight yourself, requires less product and for once I didn’t need my straightening iron. It lasted about 5 months for me. You have to use their shampoo after in order to make it last that long AND you can’t wash your hair for a few days after the treatment. Hope this helps!

Hmmm… it looks like it’s the Brazilian Keratin Treatment where you can’t wash for a few days, but the Brazilian Blowout where you can. Can someone at the salon confirm?

Here’s a link to it on Amazon. It’s about $65 for the shampoo and conditioner…. it’s expensive! But, I didn’t need any other product in my hair and it actually lasts a while. In 5 months, I think I went through 2 bottles b/c a little goes a long way.

The stylist will actually rinse your hair out before you leave and apply a masque as the last step and style your hair as usual before you leave the salon. you can even go straight to the gym sweat, put your hair in a pony tail and go home and wash it. this is a really good treatment. I highly recommend it :)

I want to know, is this the Brazillian blowout or keratin coppola treatment. There is a difference as one has much higher formaldehyde content than the other. Often salons use the names interchangeably and they are different. Please advise which product is used. Thanks.

I am still confused here: the title of the deal indeed says that it’s for a woman haircut, but Sam, you said that it was ok to use it for Men’s haircut too. Can you clear the confusion?

SEANA – You, as the owner of the salon, need to confirm the answers to the questions here. Though other hairstylists from other salons have mentioned what they do or don’t consider a brazilian blowout, YOU need to take responsibility and clarify. You may be busy with other clients, but this does not reflect well on your company.

Hi Paulette… Sam from Groupon here. I’m confused by your question. Both options on the Groupon are availabe from the Salon. Is this a question of getting an appointment right away?

I just called the salon to ask some questions before purchasing.. Only to get a recording that says they are booked up already for weeks and will get back to me in 2-3 weeks to schedule an appointment. This feels a little like they’re taking my money and running! Very impersonal and It made me feel like just a number. Literally!

You comment prompted me to call the Salon, and actually the message says that they are swamped with Groupon calls and are booked for the next week or so, but to leave a message and they will return your call to set up an appointment as soon as possible. It doesn’t say anything about not getting back to you for 2-3 weeks. I called again to double check and got the front desk person direct (if they are on the line with Groupon users, you may get a voicemail). Not understanding your comment about taking your money and running. This is an established business with good reviews who happens to be swamped at the moment, but is working hard to respond to everyone as soon as possible.

Has anyone else checked to see if the salon is certified in this procedure? I went to the Brazilian blowout website and cannot find Head & Soul.

The stylist that perform Brazilian Blowout are certified. Persons not certified are not allowed to purchase products used in this service.

I purchased the Groupon, and I had a cut and highlight yesterday from Angie. Angie was excellent, 5 out of 5 stars! I would highly recommend her. I guess I was lucky to get an appointment early, but they are a smaller salon, so be patient on getting your appointment, i think it will be worth the wait :)

I just called the salon to schedule my Groupon and was told that the salon is not honoring this deal. Has anyone else had this experience? Naturally I’m really disappointed and confused, especially since it seems like some purchasers (like Jenny, who bought the cut and had a great experience!) have already had their Groupons honored.

I’ve received confirmation from Groupon today that this deal IS valid and will be honored, so that’s good news! I’m sure the salon is swamped, so I’d make sure to give them a few days to get back to you. If you haven’t heard back in over a week, however, you may want to call again — just to be sure.

I bought this Groupon to see Marina. I’m disappointed her website now says Groupons are not accepted.

I really hope that I’m not out $100 if my Groupon is not honored. With the salon offering that many Groupon purchases, it should have been better equipped to handle to massive response. I sent an email to the salon’s email address listed on their website and it got sent back to me as undeliverable. I feel that the owner of the salon needs to get on this discussion board (since they will not return phone calls and cannot be contacted through their supposed salon email address) and respond to the rumors that they are not honoring the Groupon. I understand that it will take awhile to get an appointment but they shouldn’t have offered so many purchases (1,518 purchased) if they do not have the manpower to handle the response.

I just received a bounceback from my second email to them that stated their email address does not exist any more. They’re now unreachable since they’re not returning calls either. Does anyone know if we can get our money back on this Groupon?

I received a call back today. I had left a message on Monday. It’s taking them a few days to get through the messages (which is understandable). The first available appointment is October. I scheduled an appointment near the holidays without any problem. Hope this helps.

The salon said that we can get a refund from Groupon. Does anyone know how to go about doing that?

I tried to make an appointment for the Brazilian Blowout to use my Groupon and there are no appointments until January!!! You’ve got to be kidding me! I want my money back!

Oh, and to the people at Groupon – I would think that you would be more responsible about ensuring that people have positive experiences when they visit the places that they get deals from. You guys should either confirm with the businesses that they are able to handle the flood of business or cap the number of deals that can be purchased. Wouldn’t it have been better for the salon and the customers if they could only sell 200 blowouts now, properly service their customers, get good reviews and return business and sell another 200 groupons later and so on and so on? This deal is probably the worst thing that has happened to the business because half of the people that bought the deal are now dissatisfied.

I contacted Groupon via their online form and they promptly responded with a resolution & refund. If you’re unhappy contact them, explain the situation and your desire for a refund.
