Joan G.

Mark, from your Back Bay gym, offers a class on Tuesdays at the State Lab Institute. May I use this deal to buy 24 of his resistance training classes? He’s an incrediblely great trainer. So knowledgeable!!!

Can one individual purchase and use more than one GroupOn?

Stephanie C.

Joan: when the trainers aren’t at Healthworks, they’re working for other people. Teanna, the woman who does the boxing classes in Cambridge, teaches boxing at other places, but those locations are not Healthworks.

Stephanie C.

Facebook user: since it says ‘Limit 1 per person’, I’m thinking no.

Caryn D.

Can you purchase one as a gift and one for yourself?

Sanjay V.

Can women using this deal take advantage of the childcare facilities?

Molly B.

Do the passes have to be used on 24 consecutive days? Thanks! great groupon :)

(And on an unrelated note, while I’m leaving this comment: if there’s a place that I’ve been hoping for a long time will come out with a Groupon, is there a way to request it? Thanks a bunch!)

Erin W.

Is this only for former gym members? Does anyone know it it will work if you are not?

Steph C.

Is the day pass good for the whole day? If you go and take a class in the a.m. can you return later in the day for a second class or to use equipment?

Rosa Y.

Hi,
Is there parking at the brookline location (or any?) All of them are a bit too far to walk for me…

Hayley B.

Hi Rosa – I’m a member there, there is a parking garage (enter on Dummer St) and its .25 an hour (get ticket validated at the front desk)

Hayley B.

PS. Enter the club via the 4th floor of the garage

Marisa C.

Can I use this pass when I’ve already used a similar one for Healthworks through BuyWithMe?

L

CAN I BUT MORE THAN 1 SET OF PASSES?
WILL THESE PASSES WORK FOR FORMER MEMBER?

Kelsey H.

Great groupon! It says you can attend one group class every time you use the day pass. Do these group classes include the FOCUS training classes (Burn, Gravity, Pilates Reformer)?

Mina E.

Can you share the day passes or do they all have to be used by the same person?

Stacy W.

Can these passes be used at any time of the day?

Stephanie C.

Molly B.: I suggested the new (today!) Pulse Cafe in Davis Square by email yesterday, and they thanked me and told me that I can use this to make suggestions in the future: http://www.groupon.com/pages/suggestions

Elizabeth R.

The BackBay location says there is “local pool access.” Where is the local pool access and do these passes include pool access?

L

If I buy 1 set of the passes & my bf wants to buy me an extra set under his own account – will that work? I assume they will verify your ID upon checking in – can 1 person use 2 sets of these passes (if they are purchased from 2 different groupon accounts?)

Thanks,
>L

Patrick L.

Good Morning Everyone!

Thanks for such a great response to today’s Healthworks Groupon!

I am going to get on the phone with Healthworks and get answers to all of these questions and will post them in just a few.

Thanks and Get Your Groupon!

Rossana E.

Can I still purchase this and be eligible to use these passes even if I already used a groupon for Healthworks before?

Julia

Do I have to sign up to use all of my 24 passes at the same location, or can I use them at all the different locations?

Margaret C.

Patrick, I have the same question. If I used a GROUPON coupon at Healthworks in the past year, am I eligible for this offer? They say previous members qualify.

Holly M.

I have the same question (about previously using a Groupon), and I’m sure a lot of people do! I called Healthworks membership department and I’m waiting for a response. Any luck, Patrick?

Eliza B.

As a former member of HW, I know that different memberships give you different access. So in the case of this Groupon is there a specific time period that is off limits for gym use? It says “day pass” so I’m assuming that you can’t go in the evening. If so, what is the cut off time?

Hannah K.

Hi Everyone – Thanks for your questions. I represent Healthworks and will be able to answer any questions. On Twitter, you can ask @FionaFit any questions.

- You can use the childcare, however there is an additional fee. You should contact the location of interest to get specific pricing information.

- This Groupon does not have to be used for 24 consecutive days. The first day must be redeemed before 2/27/10.

- You could return more than once in a day.

- This offer is valid for former members or if you have never been a member of Healthworks before.

- You can buy one for yourself and one as a gift – you will only be able to redeem one Groupon at the club, you will not be able to use more than one (one client per Groupon only).

- This does not include Focus training sessions.

- Only one person may use each Groupon (no sharing).

- If you’ve purchased a Groupon or Buywithme before, you are still eligible.

- You can use your 24 days at any location (check-in is required).

- This Groupon does not include pool access at partner facilities.

Stay happy and healthy,

Can these passes be used at any time of the day?

Stacy W.

Do you have to become a member to use these?

David A.

No, you don’t have to become a member. That’’s the point of Groupon- let you try it without having to officially join. No extra fees or anything, either- just the price Groupon names :)

Elizabeth P.

Can you use these at any location throughout the 2 months, or do you need to designate one club and only use that location for all the passes?

M C.

Elizabeth, Hannah said above that it can be used at all locations. Her comment has a lot of good info!

I’m also wondering about the term “day pass”: can that be used during any of their open hours? I know they have student-type memberships that are only good for restricted hours, so even though the fine print doesn’t mention it, I’d like to be sure. Thanks!

Haley E.

I’m a current member, but my membership will run on on 3/31. Could I still use this from 4/1-4/19? It says that the first visit needs to be by 2/27, but I’ll still be a regular member then….
Thanks!

Hannah K.
Merchant

Hi Haley – as long as you bring in your Groupon before 2/27/10 to register with a membership advisor, that is fine.

MC – there are no restricted hours.

Kristina S.

How long ago do you have to have cancelled your membership to take advantage of this offer? I cancelled it just last week – is that ok?

Nadzeya N.

Hi Haley.
What did you mean by “This Groupon does not include pool access at partner facilities.” ? If I buy this groupon will I be able to use sauna and pool?

Hannah K.
Merchant

You will be able to use our sauna and whirlpool – I was referring to swimming pools offsite at partner facilities.

Kristina – that is okay.

Rossana E.

So just to recap….the groupon is only valid for the regular classes (not FOCUS) but you can return multiple times a day to take different classes without having to use another day pass?

Emily V.

I see that well over 2,000 people have bought the Groupon. I’m concerned that given the very short time-frame to use it, this means that all HealthWorks locations will be impossibly over-burdened with the influx of people for the next few months.
Is there any way that the expiration date could be extended to accommodate the large number of people using this? How significantly will 2 or 3 thousand new gym members impact Healthwork’s class sizes and the capacity of the facilities?

Thank you.

Hannah K.
Merchant

Rossana – that is correct.

Elyse A.

How do you know which classes on the schedule are available? It says drop-in classes, but how are those distinguished on the Web site? (Is it the little pink “T”? I can’t find a code key anywhere.) Thanks! And just to confirm, you can use this all day long, right, no restrictions?

Hi Emily – We have planned for this and are adding classes to the schedule to accomodate.

Elyse – The classes can be found here: http://www.healthworksfitness.com/classes/. The pink t means that they are ticketed (you must sign up online first). A membership advisor can explain how to sign up on your first visit. Yes, you can use this at any time during the day.

Can the Groupon be used at multiple locations?
When you go twice in a day, does it count as two visits or is the first visit “active” all day long? Further, can you stay for more than one class back to back?
When does the coupon expire? (I know you have to sign in before the end of Feb. but I’m wondering if the 24 visits have an expiry date where they will no longer be valid…)

jessica g.

Sorry, I now see the expiry date is: April 19, 2010.

Hi. I’m a current member at the Back Bay location. Can I use this Groupon to visit the other locations?

Hannah K.
Merchant

Hi Maria – yes you can – you must register at the other location before 2/27/10.

Thanks Hannah!

Rebecca E.

What classes on the schedule are considered as focus training classes?

j N.

Can I put my current membership on hold and purchase this instead?

Amy H.

Okay, I still haven’t seen the most important question answered directly – if I buy the Groupon, can my day passes be used at multiple locations? So Monday I go to Porter Square and then on Wednesday I go to Chestnut Hill, etc? Or do all 24 days need to be used at the same location?

Hannah K.
Merchant

Rebecca – The Focus training classes include Burn, Gravity, and Pilates Reformer sessions. These are led by certified personal trainers.

JN – Yes, you certainly may put it under a freeze option. Please see your contract for details.

Amy – Yes, you can use this at multiple locations.

Erin L.

CAN I PUT MY MEMBERSHIP ON HOLD AND USE THE GROUPON INSTEAD????

Erin L.

I am confused. 6 hours ago it said this was for former or never-before members, but Hanna’s last commetn says you can put your membership under a freeze. I don’t want to freeze my membership, get the groupon only to find out I can’t use it!

David A.

She works for Healthworks. If she says you can freeze your membership and use this, then that means you can freeze your membership and use the groupon. I don’t think she’s lying about it. Besides, it was never exclusively said that current members cannot use it…

Srihari N.

Hannah / Patrick:

I’d like gift this to my wife, but she won’t be back in the country until the first week of March. Can I fill out the registration on her behalf before the end of Feb?

Katie C.

Hello, if I have previously bought a Healthworks Groupon, am I still eligible for this deal? Thanks!

Katie C.

Oops, nevermind. Just saw the answer above!

j N.

No return phone call and this deal is on a deadline?

David you seem to work for the company. Have you spent time in the Healthworks locker room as a member? Whoops, you are s GUY! I pay full membership and just saw the amount of people that have purchased this pass. Now I have to deal with people coming during prime time, take my favorite classes and locker space during the busiest time of the year in a gym and THEY get 95% off?! David I don’t think you have had Cambridge bush stuck in your face in an overloaded locker room.

Next, my trainer left because she got a pay decrease and was already underpaid. I felt bad that she got screwed because of hours and benefit changes and now I feel like I am being screwed. I heard from other members that you got new tv’s at Chestnut Hill and they didn’t need HD tv’s. You are painting the gyms and really didn’t need to. Where else are you wasting money? I am sorry to go off like this, but I can’t even get a return phone call from the company and at this point don’t care to. All of a sudden Equinox looks better. I’ll change my schedule around and workout downtown. Whoever is making the decisions over there would be no help to me at this point. “We’re sorry, can we give you a discount on towel service?” Heard it all before.

The plus for someone, I see there has been over $92,000 made on this deal.

David P.

If anyone wants to sell this groupon (after you’ve checked with Cristina H.) can you email me and I’ll buy it off of you? My girlfriend is coming into town for a couple weeks and would LOVE to be able to take a few classes.

thanks!

D M.

Hi Hannah: Would it be possible to still buy one of these offers; new to the area and looking for a good facility. Please advise as my groupons is saying I can’t buy it as of about 30 minutes ago. Thank you. Diane

Elise K.

I would love to by one from anyone. Please email me at ekigner@gmail.com.

Elise K.

Also, is there any way you can open up the offer again?

Jennifer C.

Sort of annoying that this sold out, without any notice. This always happens on GroupOn, and nothing is ever done to address this. It would be helpful if a “Limited Quantity” notice is sent to those of us who subscribe to GroupOn when the item is at least within 10% of selling out.

Some of us work and cannot use the computer at work for personal activity.

Elise K.

I agree entirely with Jennifer. I at least think it should have been made clear that there were a limited quantity of Groupons. When I checked Groupon this morning, I saw that there were 11 hours left, and decided to just wait until I got home from work to buy the Groupon. It is very misleading to have the timer on the site if in truth the number of Groupons sold is not only limited by time, but also by quantity. I hope that the people at Groupon make clear on the site the total number of Groupons available for each deal. Thanks.

Jennifer C.

I’ve just sent an email to info@GroupOn.com regarding the Sell-Outs here (Boston) and that this is a chronic issue that should be addressed, even by simple text message or email when a deal is within at least 10% of sell-out. That being the alternative to telling us how many are left, not how many are sold. We can do the math.

As I wrote in my email, we want to use GroupOn more, not less; but these no notice sell-outs leave us feeling annoyed and frustrated.

Emily B.

I like not knowing how many groupons are available…makes it more exciting and causes people to actually buy it on impulse. Groupon in a great company and I am 100% satisfied with its services!

Jennifer C.

If you like “not knowing” then you can cover that section of your screen.
Besides, knowing how many are left when an item is within sell-out puts more pressure on the seller to respond to questions.

Impulse buying might be a good marketing tactic, but it is not a good consumer practice. Numerous questions here remain unanswered, and without those answers, an all-sales final purchase is not a good idea.

Anne M.

I am also VERY frustrated that this deal expired. I was under the impression that I had as much time left as was posted, not a set number of passes. I think it is misleading that Groupon posted the time left when really it was a quantity factor. Please allow others to take advantage of this great deal for the remainder of the time which we should have been alotted! Some of us work during the day and can’t shop online until the late evening. In the future, please share if quantity is a factor and provide the cutoff number so we know if have a chance of getting a groupon deal instead of getting our hopes up. Missing out on deals does not make me want to use Groupon more, it makes me frustrated and angry and less likely to use it!

J W.

I agree that the sell outs don’t see quite fair. We should be told that there is a limited number available!!

David A.

I know it sucks for everyone who didn’t get to buy, but compared to some of the deals here with quantities of only a few hundred available, I wouldn’t call 4000 groupons “limited.”

Gotta buy early and quickly!

Lisa R.

is there a way to redeem the groupon without a printout? I just discovered my printer is broken =(

I am extremely disappointed that this groupon sold out so quickly. I bought a groupon for Healthworks back in April, but never got a chance to use it. Unlike this one, that one had a very quick expiration date. I have been wanting to check out this gym ever since and this would have been enough motivation to finally get me in :/

joy h.

To all those disappointed that they couldn’t get a Healthworks Groupon – and I agree it was very misleading to suggest you had x number of hours to take advantage of the opportunity without noting limited supply – the Mt. Auburn Club in Watertown is excellent and offer a free three week trial ! Call them for details. No hassle – three weeks for free !

Hayley B.

To anyone interested – I’m a member at Brookline Healthworks and we are submitting an application for Fiona’s Challenge (must be in by this evening, so its a very short time window!) Some info on the challenge: http://fionaschallenge.wordpress.com/

We are a group of 20-somethings (some of us are students, some are not) who are hoping to take part in this challenge! We would love to have at least 1 more non-member join our team. If we are selected to participate in the challenge, you will receive a free month at HW including 4 Focus Training sessions, and I think a bootcamp? Please look at the website to verify.

Applications are due by tonight (Thursday, Feb 4th) – you can email me at: hayleybyrne at gmail.com

Thanks!

I missed out on the deal, didn’t get the email on time :( is there a way for me to get it?? now??

Kelly M.

Hi everyone,

Thank you for purchasing the Healthworks Groupon. Healthworks is thrilled with the response and having the opportunity to meet all of you! To make sure that everyone has the opportunity to take advantage of their Groupons, Healthworks has graciously extended the date you must redeem your first pass by. You now have until March 26, 2010 to use this first pass.

Enjoy!

Regards,

Kelly
support@groupon.com

Becki W.

So, for the record, you have until March 26th to use the first pass, but until April 19th to use all 24??

Elizabeth S.

Any chance healthworks will extend the deadline to use all 24 passes, since they pushed back the date we were allowed to redeem the first one by? Like till the end of April?

Patricia D.

I’ve just read all the comments and wonder if anyone else has had the same experience I have. I tried unsuccessfully to book classes/tickets online and finally called. No online booking for Groupon purchasers. Instead, you have to go an hour before the class you want to take, hope to get a ticket after all the current members have been able to book online, and then take the class. Hard enough to fit the gym into my schedule as it is, let alone have to devote an extra hour every time I want to take a class or go back twice for each class. That part is very disappointing, since the gym is beautiful and seems to have good class offerings.
