Henry A. Davidsen’s expert tailors construct elegantly fitted suits from gentlemen’s measurements and stylistic preferences, keeping their custom patterns on file to endlessly update wardrobes. Clients arrive for a measuring and consultation where tape measures record limb lengths and shoulder widths and seamsters test style waters with questions about the client’s job, personality, and tendency to transform into the Hulk. Tailors repurpose existing garment patterns to create Black Label suits from a selection of super 100 wools made in China, or summon brand-new patterns from the depths of their imagination to stitch Blue Label suits of higher quality super 120 wool made in the U.S. A muslin mockup for the Blue Label package allows the store’s image consultants to get a look at the suit’s raw shape on the body and make minor alterations before completing the piece. Tailors also compile a custom shirt to compliment the client’s frame and their suit’s aesthetic and fill out each package with a ready-to-wear tie.

Although Black Label suits sport more machine stitching than Blue, both sleek ensembles feature hand-tailored love evident in their functioning sleeve buttons and personalized name labels on the inside. Each ensemble sports a customer-chosen lining with four interior jacket pockets for storing a wallet, a pen, important documents, and a decoy wallet. Outfits can host additional details such as pleats or pic stitching, allowing clients to get more mileage out of a pattern than an electric car gets from licking a battery.

No matter how many alterations you make to a store bought suit, nothing fits or feels better then a custom suit.
