Hello! Just out of curiousity is the “Deluxe guestroom” in reference to a suite or a regular room? Thanks!

Jihan K.

I wonder how much does $50 get you in the resturant. Sounds like a good deal though…..

Reuben S.

Doesnt look like much, check out the menu online. It is still a good deal though.

Laurie H.

The ad suggests a few options for main course items for about $25 each… Considering it is NEW YEARS EVE, and where it is………. I guess you could pass it for McD’s, but not me! I’m in!

Laurie H.

Well, I said I was in. I bought my groupon. Called the hotel directly to see what room was a $249 value, since the highest rate for the rooms for Dec 31 is $169.00 and it is called “Bedroom Suite or Executive floor Suite or Junior Suite”. There was no room called DELUXE GUESTROOM. When I asked about making the reservation they told me that I would be getting the STANDARD ROOM. The person in charge is not in til Monday……… But when I am told in writing that I am getting a room that’s usual rate is $249, I would like to get that. This was a treat for us. A splurge, something we Never do… looks like we may never be doing it again. (I could have gotten a room at LaQuinta for $100). I’m a bit dieschevled, but hopeful someone will straighten this out!

Esmeralda V.

Laurie, there is a weird Texas law that all hotels must have a clearly posted value for the room (have you ever looked at the rate sheet posted on the door of a hotel room – thats what I’m talking about). But, if you call to book the room in most cases the actual fee will be less than the room value. This law allows the hotel to jack the prices up during certain times of high demand (hurricanes, Superbowl, etc.) without being accused of “gouging” – which is actually illegal during disasters. That said, its not considered “gouging” if you simply charge people the posted rate of the room, even if you normally offer your guests a “discounted rate.” And, thats what they do during those times of high demand. Most likely, the posted rate of the room is $250 but, in reality, they don’t charge the full “value” of the room. Thats my guess about what happened.

Hi Laurie. While Esmeralda is certainly correct on what she brought up – I can see why you might feel a little on the deceived side with this one. If you do it soon, it’s not too late to cancel your groupon purchase. Please keep that in mind knowing what you know now, and if you are not happy with the deal, cancel.

I would like to purchase this deal for me and my husband. We also never splurge like this and this LOOKS like a good deal. I just don’t want to be disappointed and find myself in a plain room when I could have been in my own nicer bedroom at home. I would like to know what is the Deluxe Guestroom? Is the restraurant value a good one?

Esther A.

Rio Ranch is quite nice. Not 5-Star, but good, nonetheless. Although I’ve never stayed in the hotel I’ve attended multiple conferences there. It’s clean, staff is friendly, and overall atmosphere is pleasant.

This is NOT downtown, so don’t expect any excitement. However, you can catch a cab down Westheimer to some pubs.

Hello Houston,

The room for this featured Groupon is called a deluxe standard room and it was the one in the picture for the feature. You can look at the link below and click on the type of room such as 1 King bed, for a complete list of all the amenities you will have for this special night!

Enjoy!!

When I click your link Ashley this is the error I get: “The page you are attempting to view is temporarily unavailable…We apologize for the difficulties you are experiencing with our website. Either our website is unavailable at this time, or the page you have requested no longer exists.”

I emailed your office the moment this whole deal looked wrong to me, and no one has replied. I want my $ back, I want to cancel my purchase. I feel like this has not been a good offer from Groupon or Hilton based on what the offer read vs what we get. Like I said, they web shows standard rooms for $99 for Dec/Jan and the ad said a $249 value for the room.

Laurie H.

I have canceled my Groupon for the New Years event. They simply asked why, and I explained the above. They say my credit card will be credited with 2-3 business days. Hoping it will really be that simple.
For those who go, enjoy. I can’t see spending that kind of $ for a $99 standard (according to the reservation clerks) room.

Laurie H.

Oh, and Ashley ……I clicked the link in your note and got an error, but when I copied and pasted it, I did get the same page as the reservation room type page. Please note: There is NO “Deluxe Standard room” listed. The rooms that have 1 king bed as you had mentioned go for $84.15 if you pay ahead or $99.00 unrestricted. This price is avail whether you call or book online without groupon. I just don’t see the Over $300 value that was stated in the offer..

Jose A.

They have the same deal on the Hilton website, but it is $170. If you go to check availability for december 31st it will show you all the room rates along with pictures of the room. The regular price of the room is $85 – $99, cheeper if you do the advance perchase which means non-refundable and pay in advance. It is the same price if you have the king or 2 doubles, I am hoping that the one with this coupon is the king. So what you are really getting is just the room service for free. Maybe worth your while, Personally I could go without the room service. Maybe just get the room for the $85 and then I can have my choice of where to eat, although the Rio Ranch looks good.

Reuben S.

Thats what makes Groupon so great, you eaither liek the deal and buy it or you dont. It is always best to check into a deal (or read the fine) print BEOFRE you go off and buy it. Saves trouble and/or disapointment. They give you a WHOLE day to make your mind up and with this one they gave you three days. No matter what you are getting “free” the fact is what you pay is cheaper than it would normally costs you. THAT is what groupon is all about..saving you a dollar or two.

Laurie H.

Reuben, I agree! I have had awesome groupon experiences before… That is why when they said the offer was over a $300 value for the package deal, I was pretty disappointed to find that I could get the same deal if I did it piece by pierce myself, for the same $150 bucks. I just hope groupon considers this when they are offering these kinds of packages too! I think they let me cancel, cause I showed my efforts from the get go to cancel. I do realize they did not have to honor the cancellation, but am thankful they did! I will continue to Groupon, but will check the deals a little more before clicking yes, in all the excitement!

Reuben S.

That is good the offered a refund in your disappointment. Another reason to love that Groupon! I actually went for this deal so, if you like I will let you know how it went!

Laurie H.

sure, that’s be great!

Audrey S.

this is my first experience with groupon and i am actually disappointed. the hotel is offering this same hotel room deal with the strawberries , champagne & $50 credit at the rio ranch for $170. Groupon falsely advertised this one. I am only saving $20.

Laurie H.

I hear you Audrey! I think Groupon needs a Pre-Shopper. Someone who will check the deal online or by phone Before it is offered, and see that we can actually GET the room they quoted, and that it even exists.. Then to be sure that the deal being offered to Groupon is really substantially greater that what any John Doe can get online or by calling.
Groupon REALLY IS a good organization. I have gotten other things and been fabulously happy. Chalk this one up, but don’t give up!

Reuben S.

What does it matter how much you save. The point is you save SOMETHING. It doesnt really makes sense to say you are disappointed the hotel is offering the samething yet it is more expensive. The deal is a deal whether it is for you or not is a diferent story. The savings groupon posted is based on the ACTUAL value of the room per night NOT how much the hotel charges for the room. I think some folks miss the point of this thing, it is designed to help. People get on here, belly ache, complain and tell folks how disappointed they are. Why? If you don’t like the deal just dont buy it and move on to the next one…simple as that. Feel mis-informed or deceived…just don’t buy it. Don’t screw it up for others may be interested. I did this deal and even if it is TECHNICALLY worth 170.00 I still save 20.00. At the end of the day MORE $$$ in MY pocket!
