Today’s Groupon gracefully choreographs a $45 premier seat on the main floor or balcony to any performance in Hubbard Street Dance Chicago’s Spring or Summer Series (a $90 value). HSDC is the preeminent contemporary dance company in Chicago; the Washington Post says a twirl at HSDC is a “rip-roaring good time.”
Nothing tops the feeling that comes from seeing the human body in motion. A perfectly choreographed contemporary dance piece is like a new language that’s comprehendible because your body already speaks it. A ticket to a dance performance is a great way to out-culture your friends and coworkers, impress a date, or leave the house.
The Spring Series (March 18–21) features the company premiere of 27’ 52” by world-renowned choreographer Jirí Kylián, in which dancers seamlessly manipulate each other’s movements—blurring the line between one partner and the next. The program also includes world premieres by HSDC’s Alejandro Cerrudo and Terence Marling, and a return of Susan Marshall’s Kiss, in which male and female dancers are suspended by harnesses that allow them to soar off the stage in a sensuous aerial duet.
The Summer Series (June 3–6) features world premieres by Aszure Barton and Alejandro Cerrudo and Bardo by Toru Shimazaki. Check out Hubbard Street’s website for videos and information about its repertoire.
Performances take place at Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park. You get a premier seat, which means you’re close to the action on the main floor or balcony. (Your seat will be assigned in either area and will be done on a first-come, first-served basis based on best availability; click here to see the seating chart.)
Note: You must exchange your Groupon for performance tickets at Harris Theater’s box office on the day of your purchased performance. The Spring Series contains partial nudity.

Ritzel, Washington Post > * As they dance, the most common reaction is simply a broad smile of satisfaction. – Octavio Roca, San Francisco Chronicle > * The Hubbard Street Dance Company is one of the success stories of dance today. – Jennifer Dunning, New York Times
Hubbard Street Dance gets five stars from eight Yelpers: > * FANTASTIC! ENERGETIC! WHIMSICAL! WONDERFUL! This was one of the best theater experiences I’ve had. – Christy M.
