In Ziegfeld’s 2013 season, original parodies of favorite stories punctuate musical favorites and stage classics to beckon eyes into other worlds. Star Wars: May the Mouse be With You journeys into Disney, with new lyrics altering familiar songs and Star Wars characters stumbling around the magical kingdom as they attempt to find their place. Then Seussical brings the famed Dr. Seuss's books to life as it impresses the importance of standing up for one's principles. Following the twin tales of the lovelorn bird Gertrude McFuzz and the industrious young Who, Jojo, the spectacle mixes and mashes elements of the Seuss world while the Cat in the Hat leads audiences through rhyme and a clarifying PowerPoint presentation. Andrew Lloyd Webber's beloved Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, on the other hand, spins a Biblical yarn, transporting theatergoers on a kaleidoscopic, family-friendly excursion accompanied by the toe-tapping "Go, Go, Go Joseph" and the heart-wrenching "Close Every Door.”
